Trump Announces Meeting with Zelensky to Discuss Peace Agreement with Russia

On Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he would host his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House on Monday to negotiate a peace agreement “that would end the war” between Russia and Ukraine.
This announcement was made on the Truth Social platform, a day after Trump’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska. The American president described this exchange as “very successful,” noting that he continued discussions late into the night by phone with Zelensky and several European leaders, including NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
“Everyone agrees that the best way to end this horrific war is to achieve a genuine peace agreement, not just a ceasefire, which often fails to hold in the long term,” Trump emphasized.
He further indicated that should significant progress be made, another meeting with Vladimir Putin would be arranged.
On Friday, the American president had already mentioned “major breakthroughs” following his summit with the Russian leader.
