Strengthening Ties: Morocco and Austria Sign Strategic Dialogue Memorandum

On Wednesday in Vienna, Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita, and Austrian Federal Minister for European and International Affairs, Beate Meinl-Reisinger, signed a memorandum of understanding that establishes a strategic dialogue between the two nations.

A Strengthened Partnership Across Various Domains

This agreement reflects the shared desire to enhance friendly and cooperative relations, particularly in the political and economic spheres, aiming to elevate these interactions to the level of a strategic partnership, all while respecting sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-interference.

A Framework for Consultation and Exchange

Through this memorandum, both countries intend to promote regular consultations and information exchange on bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interest. This initiative aims to deepen mutual understanding and coordination.

Historical Relations Consolidated

The agreement builds on the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and underscores the strength of the historical ties between Morocco and Austria, which celebrated the 240th anniversary of their diplomatic relations in 2023.

Progressing Diplomatic Momentum

The signing of this memorandum follows the positive dynamic initiated by Chancellor Karl Nehammer’s official visit to Morocco in March 2023, illustrating the shared commitment to strengthen cooperation and open new avenues for partnership.
