Local National Team Coach Celebrates Victory Against Zambia
The coach of the national local team, Tarik Sektioui, expressed his satisfaction with the 3-1 victory over Zambia on Thursday in Nairobi, during the fourth day of the group A matches in the CHAN 2024 tournament. He emphasized that it was the players’ mental strength that made the difference.
“The players demonstrated solid mental resilience, allowing them to manage the match intelligently and secure a well-deserved victory,” Sektioui stated after the game. He commended the determination and collective will of his team, noting that despite some missed opportunities, the players showcased individual technical skills and a better tactical sense compared to their previous match against Kenya.
Sektioui also highlighted the importance of the upcoming clash against the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), which he considers crucial for the team’s progression in the tournament. "We must win this match, and for that, the work starts tomorrow. Time is of the essence," he asserted.
On his part, Youssef Mihri, named man of the match, emphasized the team’s collective spirit and tactical discipline, believing that the victory was fully deserved given their performance.
Thanks to this win, the Lions of the Atlas temporarily rise to second place in Group A with 6 points from three matches. Later in the day, the match between Angola and the DRC at the Kasarani Stadium will determine the final standings of the group before the last day of the tournament.
