Agadir: SRM Recognized with the 2025 Souss-Massa Climate Trophy
The SRM – SM (Regional Multiservice Company of Sous Massa) was honored at the inaugural edition of the Trophée Climat Souss-Massa, held on Tuesday in the conference room of the Les Dunes d’Or Hotel in Agadir. This award highlights the most innovative initiatives in environmental protection and sustainability, showcasing SRM’s pioneering role in sustainable resource management and ecological transition.
The ceremony brought together numerous dignitaries, including the president of the regional council, along with presidents of professional chambers, universities, and both public and private enterprises, as well as representatives from external services and civil society.
Desalination, Reuse, and Carbon Footprint Reduction at the Core of Strategy
In his speech, Elhannaoui Abdessadeq, Deputy General Manager (DGA) of SRM, highlighted the company’s major efforts to address the environmental challenges faced by the region.
“From day one, our ambition has been clear: to provide drinking water to our communities while reducing the carbon footprint of our operations,” stated Mr. Abdessadeq.
He recalled the company’s key projects, notably the optimization of purification areas and wastewater treatment, with a capacity increase from 30,000 to 60,000 m³ per day. These efforts also include the separation of industrial and domestic discharges, aimed at ensuring the quality of reused water for irrigation, minimizing water scarcity, and mitigating environmental nuisances.
“We have invested in technology for unconventional sources and innovative energy recovery mechanisms. Every liter of water produced by our facilities meets strict sustainability standards and directly contributes to reducing our carbon footprint,” he added.
The DGA emphasized that these initiatives are part of a long-term strategic vision seeking to balance operational efficiency, environmental protection, and sustainable development across the region.

For the Sous Massa SRM, this distinction goes beyond mere symbolic recognition. It reflects the concrete impact of their actions on the quality of life of residents and on the environment, affirming the company’s ability to be a central and civic player in the energy and ecological transition of the Souss-Massa region.
“Each project, every technological improvement, each sustainable investment contributes to our commitment to a resilient and environmentally respectful territory,” concluded Elhannaoui Abdessadeq.
The Trophée Climat Souss-Massa 2025 not only highlighted SRM’s innovations but also underscored the importance of collaboration between public and private stakeholders in addressing climate challenges and promoting a green economy in the region.
