World Cup 2026: Nearly 2 Million Tickets Already Sold, FIFA Announces
FIFA Announces Nearly 2 Million Tickets Sold for the 2026 World Cup
FIFA announced on Wednesday that nearly 2 million tickets for the 2026 World Cup—set to take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico—have been sold during the first two phases of ticket sales. A third sales phase will begin on December 11.
Orders from 212 Countries
Requests have come from 212 countries and territories. Residents of the three host countries are leading the purchases, followed by fans from England, Germany, Brazil, Colombia, Spain, Argentina, and France, as stated by FIFA.
Infantino Welcomes Fan Enthusiasm
FIFA President Gianni Infantino congratulated fans who have already secured their tickets and reminded everyone that the new sales phase will open just after the final draw, which is set to take place in Washington.
A Competition Already Highly Anticipated
With 42 teams already qualified, global interest continues to rise, emphasized Heimo Schirgi, General Director of the 2026 World Cup. Soon, fans will know the match fixtures, venues, and schedules.
A Third Phase in the Form of a Lottery
The third phase for the lottery registration will open on December 11 at 11:00 AM ET (5:00 PM CET) on FIFA.com/tickets. Fans will have until January 13 to register. The time of registration does not affect the chances of being selected.
Selection Process and Automatic Payment
Participants will need to select the matches and ticket categories they desire. If selected—either partially or fully—they will be notified via email and automatically charged in February. Remaining tickets will then be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Warning Against Unauthorized Sales
FIFA warns that only the official site FIFA.com/tickets guarantees ticket validity. Purchasing a ticket does not ensure entry into the host countries; fans must verify visa requirements. Hospitality packages that include tickets are available through the official partner, On Location.
