Akhannouch and Sánchez Reaffirm the Strength of the Morocco-Spain Partnership

A Meeting Highlighted at the 13th High-Level Meeting
The Moroccan Prime Minister, Aziz Akhannouch, met with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez on Thursday in Madrid during the 13th High-Level Moroccan-Spanish Meeting. Both leaders emphasized that this new edition demonstrates the strength of the partnership between the two countries, as well as the excellence of their bilateral relations, characterized by a shared vision focused on the future.
A Momentum Driven by Both Heads of State
During their discussions, Akhannouch and Sánchez recalled that this meeting is part of a political dynamic reinforced by the insightful vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and His Majesty King Felipe VI. They expressed satisfaction with the ongoing monitoring of the implementation of the Moroccan-Spanish roadmap adopted in April 2022, which continues to guide their joint actions.
A Meeting Marked by Continuity and Evaluation
The two officials highlighted that the holding of this 13th edition, one year after the previous meeting in 2023 and ten years after the 2015 session, underscores the importance of establishing a regular rhythm for such encounters. They also agreed on the necessity of a mid-term evaluation to sustain the positive dynamic that characterizes relations between the two countries.
Shared Priorities and Institutional Cooperation
The discussions served to underline that all matters included in the 2022 roadmap should be assessed in an atmosphere of trust and consultation. Both parties stressed the importance of activating interparliamentary cooperation mechanisms, essential for supporting the implementation of commitments made by Rabat and Madrid.
Official Welcome at the Moncloa Palace
Upon his arrival at the Moncloa Palace, Aziz Akhannouch was welcomed by Pedro Sánchez. The two leaders saluted the national flags to the accompaniment of the Moroccan and Spanish anthems before reviewing a detachment of a mixed battalion that came to pay military honors.
