Real Madrid Foundation Launches Football Education Program in Morocco

On Thursday, the Real Madrid Foundation inaugurated its football education program aimed at young Moroccans at the American School in Rabat. This initiative, launched in partnership with Play Makers, aligns with the national effort to cultivate youth development, promote sports participation, and support the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, which prioritizes sports and education.

This program goes beyond mere athletic training; it leverages the universal language of football to impart essential skills, human values, and a structured educational framework to young participants.

Julio Gonzalez Ronco, president of the Real Madrid Foundation, clarified that the goal is not to train professional players, but to develop responsible citizens capable of cooperation, decision-making, and confident action. He emphasized that selection is based not on talent, but on motivation, eagerness to learn, and alignment with the program’s values.

Co-founders of Play Makers, Maroua Jrairi and Hamza Megzari, explained that this launch in Rabat marks the first phase of a national project aimed at expanding the educational model across the Kingdom. The program provides a comprehensive learning environment focused on respect, participation, and character development.

Benjamin Ziff, the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Morocco, highlighted the importance of the program and its values: motivation, autonomy, teamwork, health, equality, respect, and self-esteem. He underscored that these values are fundamental to nurturing well-rounded citizens.

The Football Education Program (EFP) of the Real Madrid Foundation is an annual initiative offering quality coaching in an inclusive environment, where children learn through real gameplay situations.
