Grant Fisher Breaks the Indoor 5,000 Meters World Record in Boston

American runner Grant Fisher set a new world record in the indoor 5,000 meters on Friday night in Boston, just one week after establishing a new record in the indoor 3,000 meters. Fisher completed the 25 laps of the track in a stunning 12 minutes and 44 seconds, breaking the previous record of 12 minutes and 49.60 seconds held since 2004 by Ethiopian legend Kenenisa Bekele by more than five seconds.
Starting swiftly at the front of the race, Fisher has now achieved his second world record in a week, following his record-setting performance in the 3,000 meters in New York on February 8th, where he clocked in at 7 minutes and 22.91 seconds.
