The Best Awards: FIFA Names Ousmane Dembélé Player of the Year

After winning the Ballon d’Or in 2025, Paris Saint-Germain striker Ousmane Dembélé has also been awarded the FIFA The Best Player of the Year title in Doha this Tuesday. The former Rennes player outpaced Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal.

Last season, Dembélé scored 35 goals and provided 16 assists. He played a crucial role in PSG’s victory in the Champions League, making him the clear favorite for this award. Despite facing challenges in recent months due to injuries and absences, his progress has been acknowledged by experts across the board.

In addition to his trademark dribbling, the former Barça and Rennes player has developed a significant finishing ability. Previously criticized for his clumsiness in front of goal, he has found his effectiveness under the guidance of coach Luis Enrique, who repositioned him in a more central role.

I want to thank all my teammates. Hard work pays off. I thank my family, the PSG club with which we’ve had a fantastic year. Thank you to Gianni Infantino, I received your message on my birthday. I hope to come back once again next year,” Dembélé stated during the event.
