Snowfall, heavy rain, and gusty winds expected from Monday to Wednesday in several provinces across the Kingdom.
Weather Warning: Snowfall, Heavy Rain, and Strong Winds Expected in Several Provinces
The General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) has announced that snowfall, heavy rain—sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms—and strong wind gusts are forecasted from Monday to Wednesday across several provinces in the Kingdom.
Snow accumulation of 20 to 40 centimeters is expected at elevations above 1,500 meters, from Monday at 10:30 AM until Tuesday at 11:00 PM, specifically in the provinces of Midelt, Boulemane, Ifrane, Sefrou, and Taza, as detailed in a yellow alert bulletin issued by the DGM.
Additionally, lighter snowfall of 5 to 15 centimeters will also be recorded during the same time frame in the provinces of Taourirt, Guercif, Al Hoceima, Ouarzazate, Azilal, Béni Mellal, Khénifra, Tinghir, Al Haouz, Figuig, Jerada, and Chefchaouen.
Furthermore, heavy rainfall, with amounts ranging from 40 to 70 millimeters, is predicted from Tuesday at 12:00 AM to Wednesday at 6:00 AM, affecting the provinces of Taza, Larache, Ouezzane, Tangier-Assilah, Tetouan, Fahs-Anjra, M’diq-Fnideq, Al Hoceima, Ifrane, Kenitra, Taounate, and Chefchaouen. The DGM has also noted that a similar weather pattern, with rainfall totals from 25 to 35 millimeters, will impact the regions of Sidi Slimane, Sidi Kacem, Benslimane, Berrechid, Casablanca, Mediouna, Mohammedia, Nouaceur, Khémisset, Rabat, Salé, Skhirat-Témara, Meknès, El Hajeb, Fès, Sefrou, Moulay Yaâcoub, Khénifra, Khouribga, and Settat from Tuesday at 12:00 PM until Wednesday at 6:00 AM.
Finally, strong wind gusts reaching speeds of 75 to 85 km/h will affect the provinces of Tinghir, Sidi Ifni, Boulemane, Midelt, Ifrane, Guelmim, and Ouarzazate on Monday, from 10:30 AM until 10:00 PM, as concluded in the DGM’s report.
