The Police Headquarters inaugurates a coordination center connected to over 1,400 smart cameras.

Rabat Police Prefecture Takes a Major Step in Security Modernization

The Rabat Police Prefecture has reached a significant milestone in modernizing its security framework. A state-of-the-art command and coordination center is now operational, aimed at enhancing the management of on-ground interventions, monitoring traffic, and coordinating emergency police missions.

This cutting-edge facility also allows for real-time supervision of the urban surveillance network, thereby strengthening the security services’ ability to respond quickly and effectively.

A Technological Infrastructure at the Service of Security

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mustapha Moufid, the Prefect of Police of Rabat-Salé-Témara-Khémisset, Mohamed Yacoubi, Wali of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region and Governor of the Rabat Prefecture, along with several officials from the General Directorate of National Security.

This new operational unit comes after a major renovation project that equipped the command center with the latest technologies for managing security operations.

The center is now directly connected to the urban surveillance network, which features over 1,400 high-definition cameras installed across various neighborhoods of the capital, in partnership with the Wali of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra.

Instantaneous Handling of Emergency Calls

At the heart of this new structure is a digital platform that operates 24/7, dedicated to receiving emergency calls via the number 19.

Thanks to an efficient technological solution, operators can simultaneously manage a high volume of calls. The information collected is immediately recorded in a secure database before being transmitted in real-time to emergency response teams, who are promptly dispatched to incident locations.

This system significantly reduces response times and enhances coordination among various operational services.

A Cybersecurity-Compliant Data Center

The new command center also incorporates a data center that meets the highest cybersecurity standards.

This infrastructure enables the storage, security, and real-time processing of digital data necessary for law enforcement operations, investigations, and various missions carried out by national security services.

The integration of all IT systems and communication networks of the General Directorate of National Security ensures rapid and secure information flow between different units.

Smarter Security for the Capital

According to Yassine Zahrour, head of the command and coordination center at the Rabat Police Prefecture, this modernization represents a significant advancement in the capital’s security apparatus.

The integration of smart surveillance enhances the tracking of responses, optimizes emergency call management, and improves the responsiveness of teams in the field.

With this new infrastructure, Rabat continues its transformation into a smart city, where digital technologies serve the safety of citizens, streamline interventions, and improve public services.
