SRM-SM Brings Public Services Closer to Rural Areas

The local initiatives led by the Regional Multi-Service Company of Souss-Massa (SRM-SM) are part of a continuous drive to bring essential services such as drinking water, electricity, and sanitation closer to citizens. Adopting a qualitative approach rooted in principles of territorial equity and the right to access modern public services, SRM-SM has launched the mobile agency project, designed as a strategic lever to improve coverage in rural and remote areas. Following the positive outcomes of its first experience in the municipality of Tamri, the mobile agency continued its rollout and made a stop on January 26, 2026, in the town of Aqesri, within the Agadir Ida-Outanane prefecture. This initiative allowed residents to directly benefit from the company’s services without needing to travel to fixed agencies, which are often far away.
Equipped with cutting-edge digital and logistical solutions, the mobile agency provided users with optimal conditions for subscribing to service contracts, combining proximity, simplicity, and efficiency. Additionally, this experience underscores the evolving management approach of SRM-SM, which is increasingly oriented towards listening to citizens’ needs and facilitating their access to essential services.
In this context, the General Management of SRM-SM has announced the continuation of the mobile agency program, aiming to cover the various douars (small villages) of Aqesri in the coming days, as well as other municipalities within the Agadir prefecture, before gradually expanding to all provinces in the Souss-Massa region.
This initiative demonstrates a clear commitment to reducing territorial disparities and enhancing social justice by prioritizing local service offerings for rural populations who have long faced challenges related to distance and bureaucratic complexities. It also serves as a tangible application of national directives regarding rural development and ensuring access to drinking water, electricity, and sanitation—fundamental elements of sustainable development.
As SRM-SM extends this model to new territories, a sense of trust is growing within the populations involved, illustrating that this approach goes beyond mere service improvement to embrace a broader vision, where effective development begins when public services meet the citizens.
