The African Union Commends Morocco’s Strategic Contribution to Peace and Governance

On Tuesday, April 28, 2026, the African Union (AU) praised Morocco’s strategic role in advancing peace, security, and governance across the African continent, highlighting its efforts to bolster stability and democratic processes.

Recognition of Morocco’s Role

In a post on the social media platform X, the pan-African organization emphasized Morocco’s commitment to promoting peace, security, and good governance. It also acknowledged the Kingdom’s collaborative efforts to enhance the integrity of electoral processes and advance digital democracy in Africa.

Electoral Training Program in Rabat

This recognition aligns with the recent hosting of the fifth specialized training session for African Union electoral observers in Rabat from April 20 to 24. This program stems from the strategic partnership between Morocco and the AU’s Department of Political Affairs, Peace, and Security.

Five Years of Structured Partnership

The training, which has gained recognition across the continent, also marks five years of cooperation between the two entities. Launched in 2022, it has become a reference mechanism for building capacity in the electoral domain and promoting transparent governance.

Commitment to Democratic Governance

Finally, the African Union reiterated its appreciation for Morocco’s leading role in strengthening democratic governance and supporting reliable and credible electoral processes throughout Africa.
