Casablanca Stock Exchange Closes in the Red
The Casablanca Stock Exchange finished in the red on Thursday, with its main index, the MASI, declining by 0.62% to close at 18,583.53 points. The MASI 20, which tracks the 20 most liquid stocks, decreased by 0.84% to 1,356.02 points. Meanwhile, the MASI ESG, an index comprising companies with the highest ESG ratings according to Moody’s ESG Solutions, fell by 0.47% to 1,322.09 points.
In terms of mid and small-cap performance, the MASI Mid and Small Cap index dropped by 0.23% to 1,920.94 points. Internationally, the FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index and the FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid also ended with losses of 0.58% at 17,516.31 points and 0.49% at 15,941.13 points, respectively.
Sector-wise, the indices for "Agricultural Industry" (-2.78%), "Electricity" (-2.65%), and "Holding Companies" (-2.15%) experienced the largest declines. Conversely, the sectors of "Forestry and Paper" (+2.57%), "Oil and Gas" (+0.64%), and "Beverages" (+0.53%) recorded the best performances.
Trading volume surpassed 215.87 million dirhams, all executed on the central market (Stocks), with notable transactions in Managem (26.66 million dirhams), Attijariwafa Bank (25.44 million dirhams), and TGCC (22.73 million dirhams).
Market capitalization settled at over 1,063.24 billion dirhams.
Among individual stocks, the largest declines were seen in Microdata (-9.87% to 676 dirhams), Zellidja S.A (-5.98% to 220 dirhams), Balima (-5.91% to 207 dirhams), Involys (-4.61% to 145 dirhams), and Réalisations Mécaniques (-3.51% to 495 dirhams).
On the flip side, Ennakl (+8.44% to 56.9 dirhams), M2M Group (+4.99% to 441 dirhams), Disway (+3.73% to 802.9 dirhams), SMI (+2.91% to 8,850 dirhams), and Cartier Saada (+2.89% to 32 dirhams) reported the most significant gains.
