Morocco’s Growing Role in Global Value Chains

The Minister of Industry and Commerce, Ryad Mezzour, emphasized in Paris that Morocco is gradually strengthening its position in global value chains, driven by the structural transformations initiated under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

During a conference held at HEC Paris themed “Made in Morocco,” the minister highlighted the advancements made by the Kingdom over recent decades, particularly in the industrial and economic sectors.

An Industrial Momentum Driven by Competitiveness and Skills

Ryad Mezzour explained that Morocco now possesses significant assets that allow it to capture more added value and consolidate its industrial sovereignty. He specifically pointed to the quality of human capital, the competitiveness of the industrial fabric, and the modernization dynamics underway in several strategic sectors.

According to him, the Kingdom is now embracing a strategy of industrial upgrading, supported by the enhancement of the “Made in Morocco” label, technological innovation, and the continuous development of skills.

Transformation in a Rapidly Changing World

The minister stressed that the global economy is undergoing a profound transformation. In this context, he underscored the central role of Moroccan youth, as well as the importance of new technologies and emerging skills in supporting this evolution.

He also highlighted the increasing significance of artificial intelligence in transforming production models and occupations, calling for better integration of these tools into training pathways and the national industrial ecosystem.

Human Capital: The Engine of Industrial Transformation

Ryad Mezzour additionally pointed out the notable presence of Moroccan talents within prestigious international institutions, particularly at HEC Paris. He praised the performance of Moroccan students in top global academic environments.

He asserted that this youth constitutes a crucial lever for accompanying the economic transformation of the Kingdom and enhancing its competitiveness on the international stage.

Hachem Bouzoubaa, a member of the HEC Morocco association, stated that the concept of “Made in Morocco” reflects the profound industrial transformation undertaken by the Kingdom over the past twenty years.

According to him, this dynamic has allowed Morocco to gradually establish itself as a competitive industrial platform on the international stage, attracting the growing interest of major global groups, particularly in the automotive and aerospace sectors.
