Eid al-Adha: Between 8 and 9 Million Heads Available on the Domestic Market in Morocco

The Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fishing, Rural Development, and Water and Forests has announced that the national supply of sheep and goats intended for Eid al-Adha 1447 H is estimated to be between 8 and 9 million heads, a level that exceeds the anticipated demand.
### A Supply Exceeding Demand
According to the ministry, the national demand for this period is estimated to be between 6 and 7 million heads, indicating a favorable overall market balance and sufficient availability to meet household needs.
### Gradual Replenishment of the National Herd
The authorities attribute this situation to the gradual recovery of the national herd, which currently stands at approximately 40 million heads. This development is supported by herd replenishment programs and the recent improvement in climatic conditions.
### Monitoring and Health Control Measures
The ministry also reports that nearly 160,000 farms specializing in the breeding and fattening of sheep and goats for Eid have been registered. A traceability and health control system has been established to ensure the quality and safety of the animals offered on the market.
### Market Organization and Supply Management
As part of the preparations for Eid, a specific framework has been deployed to secure supplies and organize marketing, particularly through the establishment of temporary markets in various regions of the Kingdom.
### Overall Satisfactory Health Status
Official data finally confirms that the health status of the national herd is considered satisfactory, thanks to regular veterinary monitoring of feeding, watering, and health treatments.
All of these indicators point to a stable national livestock market as Eid al-Adha approaches.
