Morocco and Panama Reaffirm Their Commitment to Strengthening Bilateral Relations

Strengthening Ties: Panama and Morocco Forge Historic Diplomatic Relations
Following a meeting in Rabat with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita, Panama’s Vice Minister of Foreign Relations, Carlos Arturo Hoyos Boyd, expressed his satisfaction with the positive momentum in cooperation between the two nations.
A Historic Diplomatic Dynamic
The Panamanian official emphasized that the first session of political consultations between Morocco and Panama, held on May 21, took place in a climate of trust, friendship, and mutual respect. He described this encounter as a "historic milestone" in bilateral relations, paving the way for structured, regular, and more ambitious dialogue.
This marks the first time since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries that a formal mechanism for political consultations has been established, illustrating the gradual strengthening of their partnership.
Expanding Partnership Across Strategic Sectors
Carlos Arturo Hoyos Boyd indicated that Panama now considers Morocco a strategic partner in Africa, the Arab world, as well as in the Atlantic and Mediterranean regions. According to him, the two countries share converging views on several international issues, including the peaceful resolution of conflicts, regional stability, South-South cooperation, sustainable development, maritime security, and the fight against violent extremism.
Discussions with Nasser Bourita also identified new opportunities for cooperation in various fields, including trade, logistics, port infrastructure, maritime connectivity, investment, security, diplomatic training, culture, tourism, and academic exchanges.
Towards Enhanced Multilateral Cooperation
Both parties agreed to enhance their coordination within international organizations and multilateral forums on regional and global issues of common interest.
The Panamanian official also praised the active institutional exchanges between Rabat and Panama City and the proactive role of diplomatic missions from both countries in developing human, economic, and cultural ties.
He concluded by affirming that Morocco and Panama are two nations looking toward the future, committed to peace, cooperation, and openness to the world.
