SRM-SM Organizes a Beach Cleanup Campaign in Agadir

On the occasion of World Environment Day, and as part of its ongoing commitment to initiatives aimed at protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development, the Souss-Massa Multiservice Regional Company (SRM Souss-Massa) coordinated with local authorities and various stakeholders to organize a large-scale cleaning campaign at Agadir beach. This initiative emphasizes the importance of preserving coastal ecosystems and enhancing the quality of natural spaces.

This environmental initiative aligns with efforts to raise awareness about the importance of keeping beaches clean and combating marine pollution, especially as the summer season approaches and Agadir beach—a favored tourist destination in the Kingdom—sees an influx of visitors. The campaign witnessed active participation from managers and employees of the Souss-Massa Multiservice Regional Company, alongside representatives from local authorities, regional communities, civil society groups, and numerous volunteers. This collective mobilization embodies the principles of environmental citizenship and a shared commitment to coastal protection.

This operation successfully collected and disposed of various types of waste and litter, particularly plastic waste, which poses a direct threat to marine ecosystems and the site’s appeal. It also served to educate beachgoers and visitors about adopting eco-responsible behaviors and the importance of maintaining cleanliness in public spaces. The Souss-Massa Multiservice Regional Company emphasized that this initiative is fully integrated into its strategy to contribute to environmental protection and promote sustainable development, alongside its core missions of managing and developing local services. This occasion also renewed the call for a strengthened mobilization of all institutional, associative, and citizen stakeholders to reinforce an environmental culture grounded in responsibility and commitment.
This campaign stands as a successful example of cooperation and coordination among various stakeholders dedicated to the environment and coastal preservation. It serves as a reminder that preserving natural resources is a collective responsibility that requires everyone’s involvement not only on dedicated environmental days but also as a daily practice and sustainable civic behavior.
