Mohammed V Airport: 144 Million Dirhams Allocated for Future Terminal Engineering

The National Office of Airports (ONDA) is taking a significant step in the development of Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca by launching a substantial engineering and technical assistance mission for the creation of its future terminal. The budget allocated for this endeavor is estimated at nearly 144 million dirhams, as part of a strategic project aimed at supporting the growth of air traffic and Morocco’s ambitions by 2030.

A Next-Generation Terminal to Strengthen the Casablanca Hub

The future terminal is part of a comprehensive modernization program for the country’s airport infrastructure. Designed over an area of approximately 600,000 square meters, it will feature an “H”-shaped architecture comprising a central building and two passenger concourses. Its initial capacity is estimated at 20 million travelers annually, with the potential to be increased to 30 million in the medium term.

The goal is to reinforce Casablanca’s positioning as the main air hub of the Kingdom and to streamline transit operations, baggage handling, and boarding according to the standards of major international airports.

A Large-Scale Project with Multiple Infrastructures

In addition to the terminal, the program includes the establishment of several complementary infrastructures. This includes the installation of essential airport equipment, the development of parking facilities for vehicles and aircraft, as well as the creation of new access roads and external infrastructures.

The project also encompasses the construction of a new parallel runway measuring 3,700 meters, a control tower approximately 42 meters high, along with technical and administrative buildings. The networks for electricity, potable water, sanitation, and telecommunications will also be upgraded to support this major expansion.

A Strategic Infrastructure for Morocco’s Ambitions

This future terminal is one of the flagship projects in the transformation of the Moroccan aviation sector. It aims to address the significant growth expected in passenger traffic, enhance the Kingdom’s international connectivity, and support major international events that Morocco will host in the coming years.

Through this investment, ONDA reaffirms its commitment to equipping Mohammed V Airport with modern infrastructure capable of meeting the demands of airlines, travelers, and logistical operators, thereby enhancing the Casablanca platform’s competitiveness on both regional and international levels.
