Sergio Piazzi: “Morocco, a Credible Partner and a Model of Regional Cooperation”
Sergio Piazzi Highlights the Success of the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly Forum
At the conclusion of the Forum’s proceedings, Sergio Piazzi, Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, praised the success of its fourth edition, calling it "a particularly rich and engaging meeting." The event brought together over 450 delegates, including 26 parliamentary presidents and leading experts from Europe, Africa, and the United States.
Piazzi stated that this gathering exemplifies the strong partnership developed between the Parliament of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly. "We are working together for the stability, well-being, and prosperity of our regions," he emphasized, underscoring the role of parliamentary diplomacy in finding common solutions to international challenges.
He further highlighted Morocco’s strategic position, referring to it as "the gateway from Africa to Europe and from Europe to Africa." According to Piazzi, this bridging role between continents establishes Morocco as a key player in ensuring regional stability and fostering intercultural dialogue. "Working together contributes to global peace, international stability, and improved living standards for communities," he asserted.
Piazzi noted that hosting the event in Marrakech reflects the trust the international community places in Morocco. "Morocco is the ideal location to gather decision-makers, discuss issues, find solutions, and collaborate on their implementation," he stated.
Discussing the country’s economic performance, Piazzi spotlighted the dynamism of the private sector, the robustness of the banking system, and industrial development as critical factors driving foreign investments and economic partnerships. He also acknowledged the commitment of Moroccan society and advancements in education, which he views as essential levers for growth and productivity. For him, Morocco’s growing attractiveness is "the natural result" of a coherent development strategy and a forward-looking vision.
