CGEM’s First Board Meeting: A New Era for Moroccan Businesses

On Monday, June 22, 2026, the Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) held its first Board of Directors meeting for the 2026-2029 term, presided over by Mehdi Tazi. This meeting focused on establishing governance structures and adopting the organization of permanent committees that will shape the activities of the Moroccan business community in the coming years.

During the session, the CGEM President expressed gratitude to His Majesty King Mohammed VI for the congratulatory message received following his election. He reaffirmed the Confederation’s commitment to actively contributing to national development efforts, aligned with royal directives.

A New Structure with 20 Permanent Committees

The Board of Directors approved the creation of 20 permanent committees and appointed their respective chairs. This new framework aims to enhance the effectiveness of the CGEM’s actions and support the major economic transformations taking place in the Kingdom.

Key committees include those dedicated to enhancing business attractiveness and the business climate, access to financing, skills development, logistics competitiveness, ecological transition, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence.

Governance also encompasses strategic areas such as foreign trade, small and medium-sized enterprises (TPME), startups, corporate social responsibility (CSR), industrial upgrading, and economic relations with various regions worldwide, notably Africa, Europe, Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East.

Governance Emphasizing Young Enterprises and Gender Parity

As part of this new term, CGEM has strengthened the inclusion of innovative young enterprises and the representation of women entrepreneurs within its governance structure.

Two representatives from innovative companies were appointed as board members, and leading women’s organizations from the business sector have been integrated into governance. This initiative aims to diversify profiles and enhance inclusivity within decision-making bodies.

A Bureau Characterized by Continuity and Diversity

The Board also approved the composition of the CGEM Bureau. Mehdi Tazi will serve as the president, accompanied by several vice-presidents representing various economic sectors, as well as a treasurer.

This configuration reflects a desire to combine experience, sectoral diversity, and representation of the various components of the Moroccan entrepreneurial fabric.

A Term Dedicated to Economic Transformation

CGEM leaders reiterated the priorities for the 2026-2029 term, themed "Entrepreneurs in Motion." This vision emphasizes mobilizing the private sector to accelerate investment, support small and medium enterprises, and enhance the competitiveness of the national economy.

It also fits into a broader dynamic aimed at supporting Morocco’s structural transformations, particularly strengthening productive sovereignty, integrating artificial intelligence, promoting innovation, and fostering economic inclusion for regions and Moroccans abroad.

Through this new governance, CGEM aspires to play a central role in consolidating inclusive, sustainable growth that is future-oriented.
