Morocco Reviews Submarine Acquisition Offers from France, Germany, and South Korea

Morocco continues to evaluate the bids submitted for its military submarine acquisition project, aimed at enhancing the Royal Navy’s capabilities as part of a broader strategy to modernize defense and bolster maritime security in the Kingdom.
According to Spanish media, Spain did not make it to the final phase of this competition, despite the technical and logistical proposals submitted by its defense industry companies.
The competition is now focused on three major industrial powers: France, Germany, and South Korea, which are vying for a contract considered one of the most significant projects for modernizing the Moroccan naval fleet.
This program aligns with a strategic vision aimed at strengthening the Royal Navy’s capabilities to better protect Moroccan coastlines, secure maritime routes, and enhance surveillance and deterrence measures.
It also reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to continue modernizing its defense apparatus through the integration of state-of-the-art equipment that meets international military standards, thereby enhancing the readiness of the Royal Armed Forces to address emerging security challenges.
Observers believe that the interest shown by several major international industrial players underscores the strategic importance of Morocco in the region and its growing role in maritime security and the fight against transnational threats.
If the contract is finalized, the future submarines will represent a significant asset for the Royal Navy and mark a new phase in the development of Morocco’s naval capabilities along both the Atlantic and Mediterranean fronts.
