Moroccan Olive Oil Exports to Spain Exceed 10,000 Tons in Four Months

Moroccan olive oil exports to Spain have experienced a remarkable surge over the first four months of 2026, showcasing a significant shift in trade relations between the two countries in this sector.

According to official data from DataComex, the statistical platform of the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Enterprises, Spain imported 10,384.7 tons of olive oil from Morocco between January and April 2026, compared to just 103 tons during the same period in 2025.

This change represents an extraordinary increase of nearly 9,979%, marking one of the most substantial growths recorded in bilateral trade within this industry.

Import Value Exceeds 32 Million Euros

The value of Spanish imports has also seen a dramatic rise, climbing from approximately 340,000 euros in the first four months of 2025 to 32.76 million euros during the same period in 2026, reflecting an increase of over 9,500%.

This trend highlights the strengthening presence of Moroccan olive oil in the Spanish market.

Spanish Exports to Morocco Decline Sharply

Conversely, Spanish exports of olive oil to Morocco have significantly decreased. Volumes dropped from 2,721 tons between January and April 2025 to 673.7 tons during the same period in 2026, marking a decline of 75.2%.

In terms of value, Spanish exports fell from 11.11 million euros to 2.44 million euros, representing an approximate decrease of 78% over the year.

A New Balance in Trade Relations

These figures indicate a significant evolution in trade relations between Morocco and Spain in the olive oil sector. Spanish imports from Morocco now far exceed Spanish exports to the Moroccan market, confirming the rise of Moroccan olive oil and its competitiveness in European markets.
