The Casablanca Stock Exchange Opens Slightly Lower This Tuesday

The Casablanca Stock Exchange kicked off this Tuesday on a slightly negative note. Its main index, the MASI, dropped by 0.12% at the opening, settling at 18,377.69 points, amidst mixed performances across various sectors and listed stocks.

The MASI.20 index, which includes the twenty largest capitalizations on the Casablanca market, also fell by 0.09%, reaching 1,351.33 points. Conversely, the MASI.ESG, dedicated to companies demonstrating the best practices in environmental, social, and governance issues, rose by 0.02%, reaching 1,313.42 points.

Meanwhile, the MASI Mid and Small Cap index, which reflects the performance of small and medium-sized enterprises, lost 0.17%, settling at 1,832.28 points.

Med Paper Leads Declines

Among the most significant declines of the session was Med Paper, whose stock fell by 5.08% to 24.30 dirhams. Colorado followed with a decrease of 2.74% to 78 dirhams, ahead of Stroc Industrie, which dropped 2.72% to 175.10 dirhams.

Shares of Fenie Brossette also lost 1.94%, closing at 273.05 dirhams, while Cartier Saada decreased by 1.85%, ending at 25.52 dirhams.

Taqa Morocco Signs the Best Performance

On the flip side, Taqa Morocco posted the best performance at the opening, with an increase of 1.99%, bringing its price to 1,790 dirhams. HPS (Hightech Payment Systems) rose by 1.93% to 634 dirhams, followed by Disway Technologies, which increased by 1.74% to 351 dirhams.

Shares of TotalEnergies Marketing Morocco gained 0.67%, closing at 1,510 dirhams, while Vicenne rose by 0.57%, to 355 dirhams.

This opening follows a Monday session characterized by a 0.4% decline in the MASI index, as investors remain attentive to the results of listed companies and developments in the Moroccan financial market during the summer period.
