Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Approves Nearly 2 Billion Dirhams for New Development Projects

Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Region Council Approves Major Investment Plan

During its ordinary session in July 2026, the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Regional Council approved a series of agreements and structuring projects with a total investment of nearly 2 billion dirhams. Of this amount, 445 million dirhams will be directly funded by the region. This new program aims to strengthen infrastructure, support socio-economic development, and improve the quality of life for citizens.

Investments in Several Priority Sectors

Chaired by Rachid El Abdi and attended by the regional governor Mohamed Yacoubi, this session approved various projects spanning strategic areas such as road infrastructure, housing, the environment, culture, and territorial development.

The regional council aims to continue implementing its development strategy by enhancing public facilities and supporting projects with significant economic and social impact.

Support for “Rabat, World Book Capital 2026”

Among the key decisions was the adoption of an agreement to support activities related to “Rabat, World Book Capital 2026”.

This partnership includes the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, the regional Wilaya, the regional council, and the city of Rabat. The goal is to enhance the cultural influence of the capital and to promote reading, artistic creation, and cultural industries.

Projects for Housing and Road Infrastructure

Regional representatives also approved several agreements focusing on the rehabilitation of dilapidated buildings in the provinces of Sidi Kacem and Sidi Slimane.

In addition, the council confirmed funding for the first phase of the Sidi Slimane ring road, as well as an amendment regarding the modernization of the region’s main roadways to improve mobility and support local economic development.

A Momentum for Territorial Development

Through these new investments, the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region reaffirms its commitment to enhancing the attractiveness of its territory and supporting major structuring projects.

These programs aim to stimulate investment, improve public infrastructure, and create a favorable environment for the economic, cultural, and social development of the entire region.
