Automobile: Morocco Supports Stellantis’ Growth Despite Challenging Regional Context

Morocco Confirms Its Strategic Role in Stellantis’ Development Strategy in Africa

Morocco has reaffirmed its significance in Stellantis’ development strategy in Africa. In the second quarter of 2026, the Kingdom recorded a continued increase in vehicle deliveries from the automotive manufacturer, helping to mitigate the impact of the slowdown observed in several markets across the Middle East.

While this growth remains more modest compared to the surge experienced in Algeria, it nonetheless reflects a positive trend in the Moroccan market, which is operating in a regional environment marked by geopolitical tensions and declining demand in various countries.

A Decline in Sales in the Middle East and Africa

Across the Middle East and Africa, Stellantis reported a 3% drop in deliveries compared to the same period last year, translating to nearly 4,000 fewer vehicles.

The group attributes this downturn to the consequences of conflicts affecting several markets in the region, particularly the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, where delivery volumes have nearly halved.

In this context, solid performances in Morocco and Algeria were not enough to offset declines in other strategic markets.

Global Growth Driven by North America

On a global scale, Stellantis has posted robust results. Between April and June 2026, the manufacturer estimates it delivered nearly 1.6 million vehicles, marking a 10% year-over-year increase.

North America remains the primary engine of this growth, with an additional 122,000 vehicles delivered, representing a surge of 38%.

This performance can be attributed to the commercial success of several recently refreshed models, including the Ram 1500 HEMI V8, Ram TRX SRT, Jeep Grand Wagoneer, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Chrysler Pacifica. The new Jeep Cherokee and Dodge Charger SIXPACK also contributed to this momentum.

Europe Continues Its Recovery

In the broader European market, Stellantis saw an increase of 5%, amounting to nearly 39,000 additional vehicles.

This rise was driven by several highly demanded new models, particularly the Citroën C3, Citroën C3 Aircross, Opel/Vauxhall Frontera, and Fiat Grande Panda, which collectively generated around 41,000 additional deliveries, reflecting an annual increase of 51%.

The new Jeep Compass also bolstered the group’s performance with nearly 8,000 additional vehicles.

However, the decline in sales of several older-generation urban SUVs, such as the Jeep Avenger, Fiat 600, Opel Mokka, and Peugeot 2008, partially constrained this growth.

Leapmotor Advances Its Expansion

Chinese brand Leapmotor, which Stellantis is aiding in its international development, is also steadily gaining traction in the European market.

In the second quarter, nearly 33,000 vehicles were delivered across the broader Europe, approximately 25,000 units more than a year prior, primarily thanks to the T03 and B10 models.

Mixed Regional Performances

In South America, Stellantis faced a 3% drop in deliveries. Growth in sales in Brazil could not compensate for the significant decline observed in Argentina.

Meanwhile, volumes in the Asia-Pacific region remained largely stable, with around 16,000 vehicles delivered during the period.

These results were met positively by financial markets, with Stellantis shares starting Monday’s trading session slightly up by 0.5%.

Morocco Confirms Its Strategic Role

The continuous increase in deliveries in Morocco affirms the Kingdom’s position as one of Stellantis’ most dynamic markets in Africa.

Sustained by a flourishing automotive industry, competitive production capacities, and an efficient industrial ecosystem, Morocco is progressively solidifying its role in the manufacturer’s regional development strategy.
