The Souss-Massa Regional Council Launches Summer Environmental Awareness Campaign as Part of the “Clean Beaches” Program

As part of its commitment to social and environmental responsibility, the Société Régionale Multiservices (SRM) Souss-Massa has launched its summer environmental awareness campaign in collaboration with the national “Clean Beaches” program, spearheaded by the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment, under the active presidency of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa.

Organized in partnership with the Association of Friends of the Sea for underwater fishing and environmental protection, this campaign will run from July 18 to August 31, 2026, covering four beaches in the Souss-Massa region: the 17 km beach of Taghazout, Agadir beach, Sidi Ouasay beach (Chtouka Aït Baha province), and the Tlata N’Bouazza beach in the Arbaâ Sahel commune (Tiznit province).

Through awareness-raising, education, and animation activities, the initiative aims to promote eco-responsible behaviors among beachgoers and visitors while encouraging respect for the environment and coastal preservation.
This action fits into national efforts aimed at preserving beach cleanliness, protecting coastal and marine ecosystems, and combating various forms of pollution, thereby improving the quality of beach areas and enhancing their environmental and tourist appeal.

The campaign aims to achieve several objectives, including strengthening citizens’ environmental awareness, promoting a culture of beach and natural space preservation, encouraging responsible ecological behaviors, disseminating values of volunteering and environmental citizenship, protecting marine biodiversity, and contributing to national sustainable development goals while preserving natural resources for future generations.

Through this initiative, the SRM Souss-Massa reaffirms its commitment to making environmental considerations a central pillar of its programs and projects, in line with national guidelines on sustainable development and environmental protection. The company also emphasizes the importance of mobilizing institutions, local actors, and civil society to promote a culture of natural resource preservation.
Finally, the SRM Souss-Massa calls upon all citizens, associations, and beach users to actively participate in this campaign to help maintain the cleanliness and beauty of the coastline, reinforcing the position of the Souss-Massa region as a sustainable and exemplary beach destination.
