Winter Preparations: SRM-SM Strengthens Preventive Operations on Liquid Sanitation Networks

Winter Preparations: SRM-SM Intensifies Preventive Operations for Liquid Sanitation Networks
Clearing networks, cleaning facilities, extracting sludge, and inspecting pipelines: the Souss-Massa Regional Multi-Service Company (SRM-SM) is ramping up its preventive operations to anticipate risks associated with precipitation and ensure the proper functioning of liquid sanitation infrastructure.
As the winter season approaches, SRM-SM continues its maintenance and upkeep efforts for liquid sanitation networks through preventive and corrective interventions aimed at mitigating obstruction risks and enhancing water flow conditions. In this context, the report on activities conducted between January 1 and September 30, 2026, by the teams from the Sanitation Operations Directorate, highlights the extensive operations undertaken on the ground.
During this period, 161.64 kilometers of network were cleaned using hydro-cleaning equipment, while 40,344 manholes and 39,603 drains were cleared. Teams also ensured the cleaning of 125 storm overflows and maintained special facilities at pumping stations and treatment plants, representing a total volume of 2,802.50 cubic meters.
These interventions are a vital lever for preparing infrastructure for the rainy season, promoting proper water drainage, and reducing the risks of blockage and overflow.
Enhanced Measures to Anticipate Malfunctions
In addition to preventive operations, SRM-SM continues necessary corrective interventions to maintain the functionality of installations. The report notes a total of 29,716 unblocking operations and the extraction of 1,225.80 tons of sludge.
Infrastructure monitoring has also been fortified through inspection and diagnostic measures: 2,926 meters of network were inspected using robotic cameras, and 25.2 kilometers were examined with zoom cameras. Furthermore, 230 outdated connections were rehabilitated.
These actions enhance the identification of anomalies, prioritize interventions, and contribute to the sustainable preservation of networks.
A Commitment to Safety and Quality of Life
Through these operations, SRM-SM reaffirms its commitment to anticipating risks, protecting infrastructure, and continually improving the public liquid sanitation service. Preparations for the winter season also rely on the vigilance and mobilization of operational teams to help minimize inconveniences associated with heavy rainfall and to maintain the quality of life for residents throughout the Souss-Massa region.
