Morocco Ranks 106th in Global Residency Index

Morocco holds the 106th position worldwide among 192 countries and territories in the 2026 edition of the Global Residency Index published by Romavie, achieving a score of 60.1 out of 100. The Kingdom is noted for its low cost of living and housing, although it faces challenges related to the business climate and innovation.

The report indicates that Morocco is particularly attractive for retirees and remote workers due to its moderate living expenses and affordable housing. In contrast, its appeal is more limited for entrepreneurs and families.

In the category-specific rankings, Morocco ranks 85th for retirees, 87th for digital nomads and telecommuters, 107th for families, 121st for entrepreneurs, and 117th in terms of tax attractiveness.

Morocco excels in affordability, scoring 92.5 points for cost of living and 90.8 points for housing costs. It also scores 80 points regarding property rights for foreigners.

However, the report highlights several weaknesses, particularly in business opportunities (16 points), the development of the startup ecosystem (35.4 points), and the availability of green spaces (39.1 points).

In terms of quality of life, Morocco scores 64.6 points, boasting competitive healthcare costs, good air quality, a favorable climate, and satisfactory digital infrastructure, while healthcare services and green spaces remain areas for improvement.

Finally, the Kingdom obtains 57.7 points for safety and stability, benefiting from a low risk of conflict and a supportive environment for foreign property ownership, despite more modest performance in the rule of law, political stability, and urban security.
