Launch of Religious Activities at the Moussem of Moulay Abdellah Amghar
The religious activities of the new edition of the Moussem of Moulay Abdellah Amghar were officially launched on Friday, under the presidency of the wali (governor) of the Casablanca-Settat region and the governor of the province of El Jadida. The event was attended by the president of the Provincial Council of El Jadida, the mayor of Moulay Abdellah, the president of the local Council of Religious Scholars of El Jadida, along with numerous civil, military, judicial, and religious figures.
The inaugural ceremony, held under the official tent of the Moussem, featured speeches from the president of the Provincial Council of El Jadida, the deputy mayor of Moulay Abdellah, and the president of the local Council of Religious Scholars. The speakers unanimously emphasized the religious, historical, and cultural significance of this centuries-old event, regarded as one of the most important moussems in the Kingdom. They highlighted its contribution to the preservation of national intangible heritage, the consolidation of the nation’s authentic values, and the economic and tourist dynamics of the province.
The ceremony concluded with a prayer beseeching the Almighty to grant assistance and victory to Amir Al-Mouminine, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to shower His blessings upon His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, and to support His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, while also safeguarding all members of the Illustrious Royal Family.
Under the supervision of the local Scientific Council of El Jadida and the Provincial Delegation of Islamic Affairs, the religious activities of this first day stood out with a rich spiritual program, emphasizing the religious constants of the Kingdom and the wealth of worship heritage tied to this significant place of memory.
The program began with a collective recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by interpretations of religious songs, and culminated in the Friday prayer at the Moulay Abdellah Amghar mosque.
The mosque hosted a religious conference led by Mr. Abdelmajid Mouhib, President of the local Council of Religious Scholars of El Jadida, focusing on the theme: “The Fruits of Worship Acts in Light of Prophetic Guidance.” This discussion highlighted the educational and spiritual dimensions of worship acts, as well as their role in reinforcing values of moderation, balance, and adherence to Islamic teachings.
The inaugural day’s program will continue with a Samâa and Madih vigil, performed by specialized ensembles, offering the faithful and visitors a moment of reflection and spiritual communion inspired by Moroccan Sufi traditions.
This first day will also include a ceremony of tribute and recognition for several personalities, honoring their dedication to religious matters and their contributions to safeguarding the spiritual and cultural heritage associated with the Moussem of Moulay Abdellah Amghar.
Through the richness of its religious and cultural program, the Moussem of Moulay Abdellah Amghar reaffirms its role as a significant spiritual beacon, transmitting religious values and preserving intangible heritage, further solidifying its status as a major annual event in the province of El Jadida, the Casablanca-Settat region, and the Kingdom as a whole.
