The construction sector in Morocco is expected to continue its recovery in the third quarter of 2026.

The construction and public works (BTP) sector in Morocco is expected to continue its improvement in the third quarter of 2026, according to forecasts from business leaders collected by the High Commission for Planning (HCP). These positive outlooks indicate an anticipated increase in activity, continuing the momentum observed in the previous quarter.
As part of its quarterly economic survey, the HCP reports that professionals foresee a rise in activity between July and September 2026, primarily driven by expected improvements in several branches of the sector, while civil engineering activities are expected to remain largely stable.
The forecasts position building construction and specialized construction as significant engines of the anticipated growth in the third quarter. In contrast, civil engineering is expected to maintain an activity level comparable to that recorded in the previous quarter.
This improvement could also lead to positive developments in employment. Companies in the sector are anticipating an increase in workforce, suggesting a ongoing demand for labor related to various construction and work sites.
Activity Already Improving in the Second Quarter
These favorable perspectives come after an improvement in sector activity during the second quarter of 2026, according to HCP estimates.
This growth was particularly bolstered by the increase in building construction and specialized construction, while civil engineering remained stable.
The available indicators indicate an enhancement in several components of the sector, driven by demand related to construction projects, works, and infrastructure.
Order Books Considered Normal
Regarding demand, the HCP survey notes that the level of order books for BTP companies has remained at a level deemed normal by professionals. This situation reflects a relative stability in the volume of available orders.
Simultaneously, the workforce employed in the sector grew in the second quarter, reflecting an increasing need for human resources to support the recorded activity levels.
As for production capacity utilization, the rate was approximately 75%, indicating a relatively significant level of operation of the available resources within companies in the sector.
Production and Cash Flow Constraints Persist
Despite this improvement, BTP companies continue to face several constraints, particularly regarding supply and financing.
According to the survey results, about 14% of companies in the sector encountered difficulties in obtaining raw materials during the second quarter. Such constraints may impact the execution pace of certain projects and the associated production costs.
Financially, 28% of companies described their cash flow situation as challenging, revealing that some operators still experience liquidity tensions, affecting their ability to meet financial commitments.
Prospects Remain Positive
Despite these challenges, professionals anticipate a continuation of the positive activity trend in the third quarter of 2026, mainly due to expected improvements in building construction and specialized construction activities.
These prospects confirm the important role of the BTP sector in Morocco’s economy and employment as the Kingdom continues to undertake several projects related to infrastructure, housing, and equipment. This momentum could further support demand directed at construction companies as well as suppliers of materials over the coming months.
