GITEX Africa 2025: The “Morocco 200” Initiative Propels 200 Moroccan Startups onto the International Stage

Morocco’s Digital Transformation: Minister Engages with Startups at GITEX Africa
On the sidelines of the 3rd edition of GITEX Africa Morocco, the Minister Delegate for Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, met with project leaders selected as part of the "Morocco 200" initiative this Sunday in Marrakech.
Launched by the ministry in partnership with the Digital Development Agency (ADD), this initiative aims to support 200 Moroccan startups by providing subsidized participation in GITEX Africa, which will take place from April 14 to 16 in Marrakech. The goal is to aid their internationalization and enhance their visibility in the global technology market.
According to Minister Seghrouchni, the selected startups will receive coverage for 95% of their booth rental fees, financial support aimed at removing barriers to their participation in this major event. Each startup will have a 4-square-meter stand, access to preparatory boot camps, and guidance from investors, mentors, and accelerators to optimize their pitch strategies and bolster their appeal to market expectations.
Additionally, over 600 B2B meetings are planned between startups, investors, and partners. The selected companies will also have the opportunity to compete in the "Supernova Challenge," Africa’s largest pitch competition for startups, which offers a prestigious prize.
The minister highlighted that among the 200 chosen startups:
- 130 are participating for the first time,
- 55 participated in the 2024 edition,
- 15 were involved in both the 2023 and 2024 editions,
- 34 are founded by women, a statistic praised for its representation.
In terms of sectors, the selected projects cover a diverse range:
- Artificial Intelligence: 13%
- Logistics & Mobility: 11%
- EdTech and FinTech: 8% each
- HealthTech and AgriTech: 7% each
The meeting concluded with an awards presentation to the jury members who contributed to the startup selection process.
Under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, GITEX Africa Morocco 2025 is set to be a record edition, expecting over 45,000 visitors and 1,400 exhibitors from 130 countries. The event continues to play a crucial role in strengthening synergies between governments, investors, entrepreneurs, and digital leaders across the African continent.
