Abdellatif Hammouchi Visits Vienna to Strengthen International Cooperation

The General Director of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdellatif Hammouchi, is on a working visit from May 5 to 7 in Vienna, leading an important delegation representing the DGSN/DGST.
Participation in International Security Meetings
This visit is part of consultations and multilateral cooperation meetings organized by entities under the United Nations.
The Moroccan official is notably participating in the 23rd Regional Meeting of Heads of Intelligence and Security Services, held at the International Center in Vienna, aimed at coordinating efforts in response to terrorist threats.
Morocco is participating alongside several countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan.
Highlighting the Moroccan Model for Combating Terrorism
During this meeting, Abdellatif Hammouchi presented Morocco’s integrated and multidimensional model for countering terrorism and extremism.
He also outlined the evolution of terrorist threats on a global scale, shedding light on the security challenges in various conflict zones.
Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation with Austria
On the sidelines of this participation, Mr. Hammouchi held discussions with Sylvia Mayer, the Director of State Security and Intelligence in Austria.
The discussions focused on:
- strengthening security partnership,
- information exchange,
- and coordinating against common threats.
Several sensitive issues were addressed, including migration, transnational crime, human trafficking, money laundering, and the trafficking of arms and drugs.
International Recognition of Moroccan Expertise
The Austrian official praised the key role of Moroccan services, particularly the DGST, in sharing intelligence that thwarted terrorist plots and led to the arrest of extremists on Austrian soil.
She also expressed her country’s interest in the Moroccan experience in combating terrorism and organized crime.
Expanding Exchanges with Several Partner Countries
The Moroccan delegation also held meetings with security officials from several countries, including Pakistan, Turkey, Iraq, and Oman, to enhance bilateral cooperation in intelligence and security.
This visit to Vienna confirms Morocco’s central role in international security cooperation. It also illustrates the credibility and reliability of Moroccan services, recognized as key partners in the fight against transnational threats and for the preservation of global security.
