Autoroutes du Maroc Accelerates Its ESG Transformation and Strengthens Its Sustainable Strategy

Morocco’s National Highway Authority Takes a Major Step Toward Sustainability with ESG Implementation
The National Highway Authority of Morocco (ADM) is marking a significant milestone in its sustainability strategy by initiating an extensive project aimed at operationalizing its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) policy.
Having outlined the fundamentals of its sustainable development strategy, the public company is now set to establish a more concrete and measurable approach that aligns with international standards.
First ESG Report Aligned with International Standards
In this context, ADM plans to produce its first ESG report, designed to enhance the transparency of its environmental, social, and governance commitments. The company has issued a call for tenders to select a specialized firm tasked with supporting this transformation and structuring a reliable and verifiable non-financial reporting system. The project, expected to last six months, will cover all activities of the group, including its technical subsidiary, ADM Infrastructure.
A Strategy Focused on Governance and Sustainable Performance
The program encompasses several phases, including an assessment of the current sustainability strategy to evaluate its coherence with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and international ESG standards.
ADM also aims to bolster its sustainable governance by establishing a commitment charter for various internal and external stakeholders.
Pilot Sites Across the National Highway Network
The initiative will include a number of pilot sites distributed across the national highway network, such as toll stations, rest areas, and operational infrastructures.
These sites will serve as experimental grounds to test new ESG management tools and implement plans for environmental and operational improvements.
Accelerating the Energy Transition of Highways
This transformation is part of a broader trend toward an energy transition initiated by ADM. The company is simultaneously working on a decarbonization strategy for its highway infrastructures through a gradual deployment of renewable energy.
Projects will focus on toll stations, service areas, operational buildings, and highway lighting, with particular attention on solar energy production potential.
European Support for Modernizing the Highway Network
This acceleration of ESG transformation occurs within a context of modernization for Morocco’s highway network, backed by the European Investment Bank.
A recently approved strategic partnership includes an estimated €300 million in funding to enhance the resilience and modernization of the Kingdom’s highway infrastructures, especially in light of upcoming major international events slated for 2030.
ESG: A Strategic Pillar for Public Enterprises
Through this initiative, ADM joins the transformation movement undertaken by several major Moroccan public enterprises aimed at integrating ESG criteria into their governance and performance models.
The stated goal is to make sustainability a genuine strategic lever, capable of enhancing infrastructure resilience, institutional transparency, and the attractiveness of the group to financial partners and international investors.
