Investment Opportunities in Southern Morocco Showcased in Bordeaux

Investment opportunities in the southern provinces of Morocco were highlighted on Friday in Bordeaux during the Morocco-New Aquitaine business meetings, bringing together elected officials and economic players from both Morocco and France.

Organized as part of a promotional tour by the Regional Investment Centers (CRI) from the three southern regions, under the initiative of the Moroccan embassy in Paris, the gathering showcased incentives for investors, support mechanisms, and development prospects for strategic sectors.

Officials from the CRIs of Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra, Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab, and Guelmim-Oued Noun presented significant projects completed in these regions, emphasizing their economic potential, access to the Atlantic Ocean, and their positioning as gateways to African and international markets.

Sectors identified as particularly promising include the blue economy, maritime activities, port and logistics infrastructure, renewable energies, green hydrogen, artificial intelligence, and decarbonization technologies.

Mohammed Jifer, the director of the CRI of Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra, highlighted the region’s competitive advantages and the prospects offered by the new development model for the southern provinces, driven by King Mohammed VI. He also pointed out the role of the Royal Atlantic Initiative in enhancing connectivity, trade exchanges, and regional economic integration.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Assouss, director of the CRI of Guelmim, reminded attendees of the infrastructure developed in the region, including the Tiznit-Dakhla expressway, the airports of Guelmim and Tan-Tan, as well as the ports of Tan-Tan and Sidi Ifni. He also mentioned the availability of industrial land offerings across the four provinces in the region.

Nouzha Sahel, the General Consul of Morocco in Bordeaux, emphasized the importance of bringing Moroccan and New Aquitaine businesses closer together to foster sustainable partnerships, particularly by leveraging the skills and entrepreneurial dynamism of the Moroccan diaspora.

According to Yasmina Boultam, a regional councilor representing the region’s president, Alain Rousset, these meetings have also stirred interest among New Aquitaine companies.

On the sidelines of the event, CRI representatives engaged with local economic stakeholders at the Bordeaux-Gironde Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The goal was to identify new avenues for cooperation, develop partnerships between businesses, and facilitate the realization of joint projects.

The Moroccan Agency for Development of Investments and Exports (AMDIE) presented the southern provinces as an emerging investment destination, highlighting its role in guiding and supporting businesses.

Bordeaux marks the first stop in a promotional economic tour of the three southern regions through various cities in France, aimed at strengthening economic ties between Morocco and New Aquitaine.
