ONEE Launches New Electrical Infrastructure for Desalination Plant in Casablanca-Settat
The National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) has announced the commissioning of new electrical infrastructures aimed at powering the upcoming seawater desalination plant in the Casablanca-Settat region.
This milestone represents a significant advancement in securing the energy supply for one of the Kingdom’s largest hydraulic projects, designed to strengthen water resources in the face of water stress.
An Investment Exceeding 486 Million Dirhams
The completed works represent a total investment of over 486 million dirhams, including taxes.
The project includes the construction of a new 400/MT kV electrical substation in Lamharza Essahel, equipped with a capacity of 300 MVA, as well as the creation of a dual-circuit 400 kV power line.
Each circuit spans 50 kilometers, ensuring a reliable and continuous power supply to the future desalination plant.
A Strategic Project for Water Security
By implementing these new infrastructures, ONEE is enhancing the capacities of the national electricity transmission network while supporting major projects related to the sustainable management of water resources.
The Casablanca-Settat desalination plant is a crucial component of the national strategy aimed at diversifying water resources, improving the security of drinking water supply, and addressing the growing demand in one of Morocco’s most populous regions.
