Florentino Pérez Reelected as President of Real Madrid for Four More Years

Florentino Pérez was reelected on Sunday as president of Real Madrid for a new four-year term. This election marks the first significant electoral challenge he has faced since 2009.

The 79-year-old Madrid leader secured a decisive victory against businessman Enrique Riquelme. Riquelme congratulated him even before the official results were announced.

A Historic Victory for the Madrid President

Following the vote, Florentino Pérez expressed his satisfaction with achieving an overwhelming win across all age categories of the socios, the club members eligible to vote. He emphasized that this was one of the best electoral outcomes in the history of Real Madrid.

This reelection comes after two consecutive seasons without a major trophy for the Spanish club, despite his unopposed reelection in January 2025.

The Return of José Mourinho in Sight

Having been at the helm of Real Madrid since 2009, following an initial term from 2000 to 2006, Florentino Pérez now embarks on his eighth term with significant ambitions.

Among the first announced decisions is the return of José Mourinho to the club’s bench. Thirteen years after his departure, the Portuguese coach could thus open a new chapter in the history of the Merengues under Pérez’s renewed presidency.
