Marjane Opens a Hypermarket in Dakhla and Invests 260 Million Dirhams

Marjane Group Expands Its Presence in Southern Provinces with New Hypermarket opening in Dakhla
On Saturday, October 31, 2026, Marjane Group enhanced its footprint in the southern provinces with the opening of a new hypermarket in Dakhla. This new addition brings the total number of hypermarkets of the group to 45 nationwide and is part of a commercial investment program totaling 260 million dirhams, expected to create over 500 direct and indirect jobs.
Inaugurated during the Unity Festival, this project marks a significant milestone in the brand’s expansion into the southern region of the Kingdom, following its establishment in Guelmim in 2014 and Laâyoune in 2024.
The first phase of this project involved an investment of 180 million dirhams. The new establishment boasts a sales area of 4,500 m², excluding ancillary commercial spaces, and is projected to generate more than 200 direct and indirect jobs.
The hypermarket will offer a diverse range of products to meet the daily needs of consumers. Over 30,000 items, both permanent and seasonal, are available across various departments, including fresh produce, food, appliances, clothing, books, home textiles, and dishware.
With this new opening, Marjane aims to enhance the sourcing options for the residents of Dakhla, focusing on product diversity, competitive prices, and services tailored to local customer expectations.
The group also plans to strengthen its ties with the local economic fabric. Proposed commercial partnerships include collaborations with shipowners, cooperatives, and local producers, particularly in the meat, dairy, and milk sectors.
This initiative aims to facilitate access to products sourced from Dakhla and its surroundings through the group’s distribution channels while providing new opportunities for local businesses.
For Mhamed Chlyeh, the Deputy General Manager responsible for Marjane hypermarkets, this opening serves a dual purpose: to enhance access to modern retail and to contribute to the economic vitality of the city. He emphasizes job creation, the diversification of commercial offerings, and the sustainable establishment of the group in the region.
The investment program also includes a second phase dedicated to developing a retail park spanning over 12,000 m², with an additional investment of 80 million dirhams.
This forthcoming commercial space will host both Moroccan and international brands, a shopping gallery, restaurants with views of Dakhla Lagoon, as well as services and recreational activities.
This component is expected to create an additional 300 direct and indirect jobs. It will complement the hypermarket’s offerings by bringing together retail, dining, and leisure in one location, catering to both residents and visitors of the city.
In total, the two phases of the project represent an announced investment of 260 million dirhams and a potential for over 500 direct and indirect jobs.
Additionally, the new establishment aligns with the environmental commitment of Marjane Group. The installation of photovoltaic panels at the Dakhla site is scheduled for 2027, as part of the energy strategy the company has been implementing since 2023.
Currently, 22 hypermarkets in the network are already equipped with solar energy production solutions. The group aims to extend this initiative to all eligible stores by 2030, aiming to reduce reliance on conventional energy and limit the emissions related to their operations.
Waste management and food waste reduction are also key measures integrated into this initiative.
With this new opening and the upcoming retail park, Marjane Group is thus strengthening its commercial presence in the southern provinces while focusing on job creation, partnerships with regional producers, and the development of a diverse commercial offering in Dakhla.
