Morocco-France: Agricultural Exchanges Strengthen Strategic Economic Cooperation

Strengthening Agricultural Relations Between Morocco and France
The agricultural relations between Morocco and France continue to thrive positively. The exchanges recorded between 2022 and 2025 reflect a balanced and complementary cooperation, contributing to the strengthening of economic ties between the two countries.
This was emphasized by Ahmed El Bouari, Morocco’s Minister of Agriculture, during a meeting held in Rabat with Jean-Paul Torris, President of the Agricultural and Food Sector of MEDEF International.
Expanding Agricultural Cooperation
During this meeting, Ahmed El Bouari expressed his satisfaction with the intensified economic partnership between Morocco and France since April 2024. He highlighted the robustness of agricultural exchanges between the two countries, which are based on the complementarity of sectors and expertise.
This cooperation aligns with a shared desire to develop innovative solutions to the pressing challenges of climate change, food security, and environmental sustainability.
Desalination and Smart Irrigation as Top Priorities
The minister identified several strategic sectors that offer new avenues for collaboration between Moroccan and French companies. These include seawater desalination, smart irrigation, agroforestry, soil health preservation, and the development of climate-resilient seeds.
These areas are now essential levers to enhance the resilience of the agricultural sector against water scarcity and environmental pressures.
Agritech: The Engine of Agricultural Transformation
Ahmed El Bouari also underscored the potential of Agritech in modernizing Moroccan agriculture. The integration of new technologies, such as drones, connected sensors, and artificial intelligence, opens up new avenues for improving productivity and optimizing agricultural resource management.
This digital transformation represents a key development axis for more efficient and sustainable agriculture.
A Call for French Investment in Agro-industry
The minister invited French companies to strengthen their presence in Morocco through co-investment projects in agro-food transformation. He also emphasized the importance of developing an ecological cold chain, identified as a crucial factor for enhancing the competitiveness of agricultural products and accessing new regional and international markets.
A Shared Vision for the Future
The strengthening of agricultural cooperation between Morocco and France illustrates the commitment of both countries to build sustainable partnerships around innovation, food security, and sustainable development.
This momentum is expected to create new investment opportunities, accelerate technology transfer, and enhance the competitiveness of agricultural sectors on both sides of the Mediterranean.
