Morocco Strengthens Military Medical Capabilities with the Acquisition of Seven Rheinmetall Field Hospitals

Morocco Advances the Modernization of Its Field Medical Capabilities
The German group Rheinmetall has announced the signing of a contract to supply seven highly mobile field hospitals, aimed at enhancing Morocco’s intervention capabilities in the event of disasters, health crises, or emergency operations.
Deliveries are scheduled between 2027 and 2028, with the contract estimated to be worth several tens of millions of euros.
According to Rheinmetall, the first field hospital will be designated for the Ministry of National Defense, while the other six will be delivered to the Ministry of the Interior. A Moroccan company specializing in medical equipment will handle the integration and delivery of the facilities within the country.
These mobile hospitals utilize technology that has already proven effective in operational conditions. Designed for rapid deployment, they are fully mounted on trucks and can be expanded with modular tents to increase their capacity for accommodation and care.
Each unit is equipped with comprehensive medical infrastructure, including operating rooms, intensive care units, sterilization areas, laboratories, pharmacies, medical imaging services, and specialized departments in ophthalmology, ENT (ear, nose, and throat), and dentistry. The hospitals also feature CT scanners and autonomous systems for electricity, water, and oxygen production, ensuring their functionality in isolated environments.
Beyond their military application, these mobile structures can be mobilized to ensure continuity of care during natural disasters, emergencies, or when fixed hospitals are temporarily unavailable. This project is part of Morocco’s strategy to strengthen the resilience of its healthcare system and enhance rapid response capabilities.
