Naïma Ben Yahya Oversees the Launch of the Central Unit for Supporting Women Victims of Violence

As part of the implementation of Law No. 103.13 concerning the fight against violence towards women, particularly Articles 9 and 10, the Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration, and Family, Naïma Ben Yahya, presided over the official launch of the central unit dedicated to assisting women victims of violence on Friday, April 24, 2026.
The ceremony was attended by Hicham Balaoui, the Attorney General of the King at the Court of Cassation and President of the Public Prosecution, as well as Marielle Sander, the United Nations Population Fund representative in Morocco, and Fatiha Chtatou, President of the National Commission for the Assistance of Women Victims of Violence, alongside several officials.
In her speech, the Minister emphasized that the establishment of this unit represents a qualitative leap in strengthening the national assistance framework, in line with royal directives aiming to enhance women’s rights and improve protective mechanisms.
She also noted that this initiative is part of a comprehensive institutional vision aimed at ensuring dignified reception, specialized listening, effective guidance, as well as tailored legal, psychological, and social support, all while respecting women’s dignity.
According to the Minister, this new structure will play a central role in coordinating and monitoring the territorial units that will be gradually deployed, while contributing to the harmonization of procedures and enhancing cooperation among various stakeholders.
This approach is integrated into a strategy adopted by the ministry, focusing on improving governance, strengthening coordination and monitoring mechanisms, as well as preventing violence and reducing its impacts on individuals and society.
On this occasion, presentations were made regarding the mission and organization of the central unit, as well as its operational and administrative functions. A tour of the facilities was also organized, highlighting equipment that meets standards for secure reception and confidential listening, especially for women accompanied by children.
The launch of this unit thus marks a new phase in the process of enhancing the protection of women in Morocco, founded on better coordination among actors and continuous improvement of the quality of services offered to victims.
