OCP Green Water Launches J2K Pipeline to Secure Water Supply for Khouribga

OCP Green Water Announces Commissioning of J2K Pipeline

OCP Green Water has announced the commissioning of the J2K pipeline, a major hydraulic infrastructure linking the Jorf Lasfar industrial platform to Khouribga. Completed in just 24 months, this project enables the transportation of up to 80 million cubic meters of desalinated water per year, thereby enhancing the water security of this vital industrial region.

This achievement marks a first in Morocco for the long-distance transfer of desalinated water, showcasing the ambitions of the OCP Group in promoting sustainable water resource management.

Mobilizing Moroccan and International Expertise

The J2K pipeline was designed with the support of JESA’s engineering teams, in collaboration with international experts, while the construction was entrusted to a consortium of Moroccan companies.

This project reflects the expertise developed in hydraulic infrastructure and the ability of national companies to successfully execute large-scale projects addressing the challenges of water transition.

Significant Economic and Social Impact

Beyond its strategic role in water supply, the construction has generated significant economic benefits at the local level.

Nearly one million workdays were mobilized during the construction, with 85% of the workforce being local. The operation of this infrastructure will also create about a hundred permanent jobs.

A Lever for Morocco’s Water Resilience

With this new infrastructure, OCP Green Water strengthens its strategy to sustainably secure water resources for industrial activities while reducing pressure on conventional resources.

Thus, the J2K pipeline fits into a long-term vision focused on water security, regional development, and adaptation to climate change challenges, positioning seawater desalination as a key lever to support the Kingdom’s economic growth.
