Ryad Mezzour: “The Moroccan Engineer is at the Heart of the Kingdom’s Industrial and Technological Sovereignty”

Ryad Mezzour, the Minister of Industry and Trade, participated in Rabat at the opening of the fourth National Congress of the National Syndicate of Moroccan Engineers. On this occasion, he emphasized the strategic role of engineers in the success of major projects in the Kingdom and in bolstering Morocco’s industrial, technological, and economic sovereignty.

National Engineering at the Service of Sustainable Development

Speaking at the opening of the fourth National Congress of the National Syndicate of Moroccan Engineers, organized under the theme “A Continuous Struggle to Advance National Engineering and Contribute to Sustainable Development”, Ryad Mezzour reaffirmed the importance of engineering in supporting the economic transformations of the Kingdom.

The minister reminded attendees that national skills are a crucial lever for supporting industrial projects and enhancing the competitiveness of the Moroccan economy.

Strengthening the Link Between Industry and Education

Ryad Mezzour highlighted that the Ministry of Industry and Trade is working to bridge the gap between companies and engineering training institutions to ensure a better alignment between graduates’ skills and the needs of the national production fabric.

This approach aims to develop a qualified human capital capable of accompanying industrial shifts, new technologies, and emerging careers.

Engineers at the Heart of the Kingdom’s Major Projects

The minister stated that Moroccan engineers play a decisive role in the realization of the major development projects undertaken by the Kingdom.

According to him, they now occupy a strategic position in issues related to industrial sovereignty, technological innovation, and economic competitiveness, in line with the High Guidelines of His Majesty King Mohammed VI aimed at building a high-performing national economy that is productive and wealth-creating.

Innovation and Industrial Integration as Priorities

Ryad Mezzour also reaffirmed his commitment to supporting national engineering as a driver of sustainable development and innovation.

He emphasized the need to strengthen local industrial integration, stimulate research and development, and create more job opportunities for Moroccan engineers, in order to consolidate the Kingdom’s place in high value-added industrial sectors.
