Settat Strengthens Its Drinking Water Supply with a New Pumping Station
On Tuesday, the town of Ouled Saïd inaugurated a new water pumping station, a strategic project designed to enhance the drinking water supply for the city of Settat and its neighboring communities.
This achievement aligns with the celebrations of the 27th anniversary of His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s accession to the throne and responds to the High Royal Directives aimed at ensuring water security and sustainable access to drinking water for citizens.
An Investment of 210 Million Dirhams
The first phase of the project involves the installation of a 40-kilometer water transfer network, requiring an investment of 160 million dirhams.
According to Tarik Hamane, the General Director of the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE), the last five kilometers of this infrastructure, with a total cost nearing 210 million dirhams, will be completed in less than two months.
A Project to Strengthen Water Security in the Region
The ONEE official stressed that this infrastructure is part of efforts to ensure sustainable management of water resources and enhance the resilience of the region in facing water stress challenges.
With the commissioning of large-diameter pipes (DN 800), the project will double the flow of drinking water supply, thereby improving the network’s capacity to meet the growing needs of the residents of Settat and nearby areas.
A Response to Water Supply Challenges
With this new pumping station, authorities continue their efforts to modernize hydraulic infrastructures and ensure a regular supply of drinking water. This project is part of the national strategy aimed at enhancing the Kingdom’s water security and supporting the demographic and economic development of various regions.
