Shooting in Nantes: Teenage Boy Killed and Two Minors Seriously Injured in Suspected Drug Trafficking Context

A 15-Year-Old Fatally Shot in Nantes

A 15-year-old boy was shot dead and two other minors were seriously injured Thursday evening in Nantes, in the Port-Boyer neighborhood, according to the city’s prosecutor.

The gunfire erupted in the lobby of a building in the northern part of the city, hitting three young men, in what appears to be a new episode of violence linked to drug trafficking.

Scenes of Panic in the Building

According to initial findings from the investigation, the alleged shooters arrived on a motorcycle before opening fire, fleeing the scene immediately afterward.

One of the victims is reported to have been chased to the 13th floor of the building, where he attempted to take refuge in an apartment, according to a police source cited by the media.

Heavy Human Toll

Prosecutor Antoine Leroy confirmed the death of the 15-year-old, while the youngest of the injured, aged 13, remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

The other two victims were also urgently treated and are in grave condition.

Connection to Drug Trafficking

Authorities are considering a possible settling of scores related to drug trafficking, although no arrests have yet been made.

The shooters are actively being pursued by law enforcement.

A Neighborhood Already Marked by Violence

This shooting occurs against a backdrop of ongoing tension in the Port-Boyer neighborhood, where a previous violent incident had resulted in one fatality and one injury just a few weeks earlier, allegedly linked to drug trade.

An Anticipated Visit from the Interior Minister

In light of the escalating violence, the French Interior Minister is expected to visit Nantes to assess the security situation and the measures currently in place.
