The CGEM Celebrates 20 Years of Its CSR Charter and Honors 21 Committed Companies in Morocco

The General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) celebrated the twentieth anniversary of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Charter in Casablanca. During this event, the CSR Label award ceremony took place under the theme “20 Years of the CSR Charter: From Commitment to Impact,” highlighting the evolution of CSR culture within Morocco’s economic landscape.

Since its inception in 2006, the CGEM’s CSR Charter has established itself as a benchmark framework designed to encourage businesses to adopt a holistic performance vision that merges economic value creation, social progress, good governance, and environmental respect.

CSR: A Strategic Lever for Competitiveness

During the ceremony, CGEM President Mehdi Tazi emphasized that corporate social responsibility is now a genuine lever of competitiveness, resilience, and trust.

He pointed out that social, environmental, and governance dimensions have become central to the development strategies of Moroccan companies. This evolution directly enhances their sustainable performance and adaptability in an ever-changing economic environment.

Reflecting on Value Creation

The event also featured a roundtable discussion with several certified companies. Participants engaged in conversations about the shift from mere regulatory compliance towards genuine value creation, exploring how CSR can act as a true driver of competitiveness.

They shared their experiences and spotlighted the tangible benefits of integrating CSR into overall business strategy, particularly in areas such as governance, innovation, and employee engagement.

21 Companies Awarded for Their Responsible Commitment

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the CGEM recognized 21 companies for the quality of their CSR initiatives and their contributions to responsible, inclusive, and sustainable growth.

The CSR Label was awarded for the first time to multiple companies, including AXA Services, BOTTU, CGI (General Real Estate Company), Crédit Agricole du Maroc, Frigo Process, Pharma 5, Rabat Region Mobility, Red Med Private Equity, S2M, and Wafa IMA Assistance.

Additionally, the label was renewed for other organizations already committed to this approach, such as AtlantaSanad Assurance, the Casablanca Stock Exchange, Cosumar, Sunabel, Suta, HPS, Oulmès Mineral Waters, Leyton, Novec, as well as the National Lottery Management Company and CAT (Transport Insurance Company).

Expanding CSR Dynamics in Morocco

Today, 152 companies have obtained the CGEM’s CSR Label, reflecting a growing adoption of social responsibility principles among Moroccan businesses. This momentum also demonstrates the private sector’s desire to balance economic performance with positive social impact and environmental respect.

The CGEM is also continuing its efforts to disseminate CSR culture among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through the “Responsible SME” label, launched in 2025, which aims to assist SMEs in integrating these practices into their development strategies.

Towards a More Responsible Economic Model

Through this celebration, the CGEM reaffirms its commitment to a more sustainable and inclusive economic model. The goal is to enhance the competitiveness of Moroccan companies while promoting balanced development that respects social and environmental challenges.
