The ‘Digital Meetings by PortNet’ Highlight the Strategic Role of the Digital Single Window

10th Edition of “Digital Meetings by PortNet” Focuses on Digital Transformation in Foreign Trade
The 10th edition of the “Digital Meetings by PortNet,” held on Wednesday in Casablanca alongside Logismed 2026, put the digital transformation of foreign trade at the forefront of discussions. This meeting, part of the 13th International Exhibition of Transport and Logistics for Africa and the Mediterranean, brought together experts, institutional officials, and both Moroccan and international professionals to address the challenges related to digitization and territorial connectivity.
Under the theme "Connecting Territories to Global Trade: The Single Window as a Catalyst for the Intelligent Foreign Trade Ecosystem," the event highlighted the increasingly vital role of the digital single window in streamlining exchanges and enhancing the competitiveness of economic operators.
On this occasion, Youssef Ahouzi, General Director of PortNet, stated that the actions taken by his organization aim to simplify administrative procedures and improve the efficiency of Moroccan foreign trade. He emphasized the necessity of providing more support to regional businesses to democratize access to export opportunities, regardless of their size or geographical location.
Ridouan Boulaich, on his part, stressed the importance of territorial connectivity as a direct extension of port performance. The head of Tanger Med Port Authority recalled that the Port of Tanger Med handled 11.1 million containers in 2025, noting that work is currently underway with PortNet to strengthen digital achievements and move towards an integrated national logistics platform.
Ahmed Benhaddou remarked that competitiveness now depends not only on production but also on the quality of connectivity and real-time data management. According to him, these factors have become essential for reducing economic fragmentation and facilitating the integration of rural SMEs into international markets.
Likewise, Xavier Personnic, an international supply chain specialist, insisted on the need to simultaneously develop both physical and digital infrastructures to support intra-African trade. He particularly advocated for international-standard logistics zones and the reduction of non-tariff barriers through digital tools.
Javier Mendez also spoke at the meeting, emphasizing the significance of the digital single window in expediting goods processing. He explained that this system allows the Port of Barcelona to release certain shipments in just three minutes, a significant advantage for industries operating on tight schedules.
Concluding this latest edition of the “Digital Meetings by PortNet,” attended by the Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, Omar Hejira, PortNet reaffirms its commitment to supporting the transition toward a more digitized, integrated, and sustainable foreign trade model.
Under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the 13th edition of Logismed 2026 will continue until May 14, centered on the theme: “An Intelligent Logistics Ecosystem: Connecting Territories and Reinventing the Supply Chain.” Over 7,000 professional visitors are expected for this edition.
