The Rabat-Salé-Kénitra SRM Launches a Enhanced Operation Against Fraud

Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Regional Multiservice Company Launches Anti-Fraud Initiative

As part of its public service mission and commitment to responsible and equitable resource management, the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Regional Multiservice Company (SRM RSK) has announced the launch of a comprehensive initiative aimed at combating illegal connections, unauthorized hookups, and various forms of fraud affecting drinking water, wastewater, and electricity networks, starting in June 2026.

This initiative will be carried out in close coordination with local authorities, national security services, and the Royal Gendarmerie. Mixed teams will be deployed to conduct targeted field inspections to identify, document, and eliminate any illegal use of public networks.

Preliminary operations conducted in the first few months of 2026 have already revealed the extent of the issue. Between January and May 2026, more than 1,199 individual fraud cases were detected in low-voltage electricity networks. This irregular consumption is estimated at over 16.2 million kWh, resulting in a financial loss exceeding 26 million dirhams including tax, excluding large-scale fraud cases.

Similarly, 19 fraud cases were identified in the drinking water network, corresponding to a volume of approximately 30,140 cubic meters and an estimated amount of over 336,000 dirhams including tax.

SRM RSK emphasizes that illegal connections and unauthorized withdrawals from public networks are offenses subject to legal proceedings in accordance with current laws and regulations. Any identified fraud will be dealt with through the appropriate procedures, without prejudice to the penalties outlined in applicable regulations.

Additionally, a specific control system will be implemented to combat fraudulent practices related to irrigation in agricultural operations, as well as filling and withdrawal activities performed by certain tanker trucks that may exploit public drinking water networks illicitly, particularly at fire hydrants and standpipes. This measure aims to preserve available water resources and ensure their use strictly adheres to existing regulations.

Through this initiative, SRM RSK reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding public resources, ensuring fairness among all users, and providing a reliable, secure, and sustainable service for the benefit of all citizens.

The company urges all users to adopt responsible and civic-minded behavior and expresses gratitude to local authorities, institutional partners, and citizens for their collaboration in preserving this collective heritage.
