Weather in Morocco: Persistent Heat, Localized Thunderstorms, and Strong Winds Expected This Wednesday

Weather Update for Morocco: June 17, 2026
The weather situation in Morocco will be characterized by significant variability this Wednesday, June 17, 2026. According to forecasts from the General Directorate of Meteorology, several regions of the Kingdom will experience high temperatures, while others will be affected by localized thunderstorms and occasionally strong gusts of wind.
High Temperatures in the Southeast
The hottest conditions are expected in the southeastern part of the country, the eastern and southern Saharan provinces, as well as in the regions of Saïss and the interior of the Gharb, where temperatures are projected to rise to relatively high levels.
Fog and Light Rain on the Coasts
Throughout the morning and into the night, relatively dense low clouds are likely to form over various areas of the country. These cloud formations will be accompanied locally by patches of fog or light rainfall along the Atlantic plains, the Mediterranean coast, the interior of Souss, as well as in the northwestern provinces of the South.
These conditions may temporarily reduce visibility in certain coastal areas, necessitating special caution for road users.
Thunderstorm Risks in the Middle Atlas
Convective clouds are also expected to develop over the reliefs of the Middle Atlas. These may lead to localized thunderstorms, sometimes accompanied by moderate electrical activity.
Residents in mountainous areas are advised to monitor weather conditions throughout the day.
Strong Winds and Dust Uplift
The day will also feature relatively strong winds in the southern provinces, the Tangier region, and the southern Oriental. These gusts may locally cause dust uplift, particularly in desert and semi-desert areas.
This situation could temporarily affect air quality and visibility on some roadways.
Temperatures: Slight Decrease in Some Regions
Minimum temperatures will range between 10 and 15°C in the Atlas and Rif mountains. They will vary between 20 and 25°C in the southern Oriental, southeastern regions, and the southern Saharan provinces, while remaining between 16 and 20°C elsewhere in the Kingdom.
For maximum temperatures, a slight decrease is expected in the southeast, Oriental region, Saharan provinces, and along the Mediterranean coast. Conversely, a moderate increase is anticipated in other areas.
Sea Conditions
Marine conditions will remain generally stable. The sea will be calm to slightly choppy in the Mediterranean, lightly choppy to rough at the Strait of Gibraltar, and slightly choppy between Agadir and Laâyoune. Along the rest of the Moroccan coastline, it will be lightly choppy to rough.
This weather development confirms the contrasting nature of the weather observed in recent days in Morocco, alternating between summer heat, stormy instability, and windy episodes affecting multiple regions of the Kingdom.
