Women’s U17 World Cup: North Korea Claims Fourth Title

The North Korean national team has secured its fourth title at the U17 Women’s World Cup, defeating the Dutch team 3-0 in the final held on Saturday at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.

The goals for North Korea were scored by Kim Won Sim (14th minute), Pak Rye Yong (18th minute), and Ri Ui Gyong (42nd minute).

With this victory, North Korea enhances its record as the most successful nation in the tournament’s history, having previously won the world title in 2008, 2016, and 2014.

In the ranking match, Mexico triumphed over Brazil in a penalty shootout (3-1).

Both teams ended regulation time in a 1-1 draw, with Kaylane opening the scoring for Brazil in the 78th minute and Evelin scoring an own goal in stoppage time (90+6 minutes) to provide a lifeline for Mexico.

The Spanish team won the fair play award, while North Korea’s Kim Won Sim was named the tournament’s best player.

The awards ceremony was attended by the Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, Mohamed Saâd Berrada, the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa, and the President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino.

This global competition, held in Morocco with 24 teams divided into six groups, took place across three venues at the Mohammed VI Football Academy and the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.
